SERAP responds as Buhari diminishes examination charges for JAMB, NECO, others

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, has complimented President Muhammadu Buhari Government over decrease of examination charges for Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB and NECO.

Clergyman of Education, Adamu declared decrease of the expenses after the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting on Wednesday.



As per him, the JAMB expense for the UTME will diminish from N5,000 to N3,500, the Senior Secondary School expense charge by NECO will decrease from N11,350 to N9,850 and the Basic Education testament by NECO will lessen from N5,500 to N4,000.

As per him, the new charges would end up compelling from January 2019.

Responding, SERAP lauded the choice by the government.



The gathering in a post on its official Twitter page asked all state governors to execute such choice and decrease cost of training in particular states.

The post read: "The decrease of examination charges for JAMB,NECO is an appreciated advancement.

"We ask all state governors to earnestly cut the expense of instruction in their states and enhance access to quality training for kids from poor and burdened foundation."
